2019 is on its way! Year-end thoughts from Tavis Patterson.
It’s hard to believe that we are ending 2018 and starting up the process of another year. If you’re like me, you’re taking out your year-end notes, comparing them to last year, comparing results and then prepping for the new year.
For 2019, you’ll see us really beat the drum of improved security for your technology. We are rolling out brand-new, security-only technology plans with new tools and processes to focus on keeping you, our clients, safer than ever.
Earlier this month we created a special audit for all of our clients. We were seeing a particularly nasty security attack using old usernames with remote access privileges to get into systems. The bad guys are stepping up their efforts every day, and we have to step up to the plate as well. The additional cost for this special audit for our clients: $0. When I say TAZ Networks is proactive, I truly mean it.
Standardization will also be a big emphasis for us in 2019. Our clients will need to be standardized. In fact, we won’t take on any new clients that don’t come along for the ride. There are too many times where people say they want us to be their “IT people” but then make overriding decisions that leave our hands tied. Thus we will be requiring clients to sign off on any security policy that they have decided not to accept and that doesn’t fall into our standards. Is this a “punishment”? Of course not. My belief is that if we don’t have it in writing that we notified you properly, then we aren’t doing our job as your technology leader.
